...when you HAVE to spend the entire weekend around athletes in tight spandex...sometimes half out of their tight spandex. Giggle, giggle.
I am sorry but I don't think I will ever grow out of that boy crazy 16 year old that I used to be.
Anyhoo, you should check out the Short Track Speed Skating World Cup at the Olympic Oval this weekend. Utah has some of the fastest ice on earth, which provides a great venue for world record breaking. Last time I volunteered at the Short Track World Cup it seemed like a world record was being broken during every race.
Oh and one more thing, come a little closer please because I need to whisper this, but Apollo Anton Ohno isn't that exciting. Plus he's short and has teensy tiny feet.

I'm not really that in to Apollo Ohno either. Although my Mom seems to love him, so I won't crush her by repeating your comments. :)
What???? Apollo Anton Ohno rocks! He's very exciting!! Who cares about his size, have you met Jeff?? ;)
It was more the size of his personality that led me to my conclusion. He wasn't that nice. And seemed to really think alot of himself.
And I guess 5'8 isn't that short, not compared to my 5'3 that is, but he was much smaller than I thought he would be.
Give me a nice tall dutch skater and I would be happy.
.....and to my 5'9" that is rather short ;)
I cannot stand people thinking themselves superior to others, don't they know no one is better than us?!
I agree with Heather about Apollo. Sorry, all.
I was standing by the atheletes after one of Apollo's races. He was buddy buddy with the boys that were reicing the track between races. One of the police officers on duty came up behind him , slapped him on the shoulder and said somthing funny and walked off. He scared Apollo almost right out of his spandex. You had to be there, it was funny.
The ladies 3000m Relay set a new world record while I was there. I think it was Italy. They came in alomst an entire two minutes ahead of everyone else.
I will admitt it was kind of sad in one of the final races on Saturday night. Apollo was up against three Koreans. He ended up wipping out the second to last corner on the home stretch. Oh well...there are plenty of other qualifying races before the Olympics 2010.
