The Deer

I have been playing around with this picture.  I thought I would show you all the iterations.

Which one do you like better?  Any suggestion for other ways I can edit it?

Cropped, focal point highlighted, colors softened in spots, and sharpened in others.

Cropped and sharpened.

Trees

Today we were encouraged to post pictures of trees.  Here are a few I took today and a few from the past year or two.

I cropped our Owl friend's picture and sharpened the colors a little, I think he is quite handsome.

Random Moments of Christmas Cheer - Three

I probably shouldn't like it so much when people dress up animals in human clothes (I am sure there are many activists out there that find this appalling), but I can't help myself....it's cute, and they don't seem to be suffering.

Wildlife, Leaves, and Dale Chihuly

I went on some hikes up in the Silver Lake area this Fall, they were only a few weeks apart, but the difference in the colors is pretty amazing.  I also ran into some friendly fauna whilst admiring the flora.

Well hello there Mr. Moose.   I used my telephoto lense on the moose, because even though he was just mildly munching, they have signs all over the place about being wary of charging moose.   I wasn't in the mood to be trampled to death that day.

I also saw some skittish deer.

Yes there is a deer in this picture, can you spot her?

More munching.   I was less afraid of being charged by this particular little guy.

Same scene, a few weeks later.  Check out all the yellow.   Those are the aspens.   Soooo pretty.

And a bonus shot from my trip to the Symphony last weekend.   This was taken from the first tier balcony at Abravanal Hall.   The Dale Chihuly sculpture which we got during the SLC Olympics is just breathtakingly beautiful in my opinion, but I also love how you can see the lit up Salt Lake Temple across the street.

Oh...and we went to the Zoo, listened to the Tabernacle Choir, went to Sundance, and watched a Soccer Match too!

I got a new camera in July, so here are a bunch of "test" pictures.   I am still learning how to use all the fanciness that I bought.

Hogle Zoo

We also went to Sundance to watch a free screening of the film "All the President's Men" for the 40th anniversary of Watergate.   I had never seen the film on the big screen, so I really enjoyed it.

We also enjoyed the patriotic service by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir

And took a tour of the gardens on top of the LDS Conference center.  Nice views from up there.

And I went to a Real Soccer game on the 4th of July.

The end....again.

Cuteness!

I have been sick for a few weeks now, and it is starting to get me down. So, I feel the need to post something cute.

Seriously....this is so cute I can barely stand it.

Enjoy!

Gratitude Month - Animals

Today I am grateful for animals!

We all know that I am partial to bunnies, but in fact I love all animals. Yes it is true I am allergic to them all (especially those pesky cats), and yes it is true that I am neurotic about them not being in my room, and yes it is true that I don't enjoy them licking or snotting on me. But....in general I love animals. :)

I am not sure if I will ever have one in my house again (see above). But that doesn't mean that I don't obsessively look for cute animal pictures on the internet or that I don't frequently look on the Humane Society page or the Best Friends page (even though they make me cry) to see who is up for adoption. And secretly I wish I could watch TV on Thanksgiving...not because of the parade or football...but so I could watch the Dog Show. Just yesterday I found myself thinking the most random thought after watching a Cricut commercial. And it was..."I wish I could own a fox". How weird is that? Pretty weird. But foxes are so cute (until they bite you I guess).

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, if you are still feeling generous...here are a few worthy places to which you can donate your hard earned money.

The reason why I am not allowed to have a dog....

....is because I would totally dress them up like this.

Just kidding, I would never dress them up in Wedding clothes.

Spring Things

I think of two things when I think of Spring....Flowers and Babies. And yesterday I was blessed with both.

Here are a few pictures I took yesterday.

Baby ducks in the pond behind my apartment.

There are several families of baby geese in various stages of development in the complex as well.

Flowers.

The Pond by my apartment and the pretty flowering trees.

The new puppy - Shasta. No, not mine. But she sure is cute.

Samuel - contemplating

Samuel - getting ready

Samuel - attacking

And finally, my tiny vase centerpiece.
