Gratitude Month - Will Power

Today I am grateful for will power.

I recently quit drinking diet caffeinated sodas (regularly that is, I still have one on Saturday).   And I have been working on quitting soda all together.   I am down to a few a week, rather than several a day.  And this is how it may stay for the foreseeable future.   So please don't think you need to help me with my 'goal' by making comments when you see me drinking a Fresca or a Diet Caffeine Free Coke, they will only annoy me.   I am sure most of you who know me will have already realized this, and if you haven't, then you don't really know me.

I didn't do this for some health reason, or religious reason, or because it was suggested to me by my Dr.  In fact, I didn't really drink as much as you might think I did in the first place.  Certainly no more caffeine than most coffee drinkers, and definitely no more soda than most IT guys.   I just did it because I wanted to.   Plain and simple, I decided one day that I wanted to quit and so I started the process.

The thing about will power is that you really have to want to change the behavior.   Not because you logically know it is a good idea, but because deep down it is something you want to do.   It doesn't work any other way.

So today, I am grateful that I wanted to quit drinking diet caffeinated soda and that I have had the will power to be successful.
