Gratitude Month - Travel

Today I am grateful for the opportunity to Travel.

It is no secret that one of my favorite TV shows is The Amazing Race. The show is exciting to watch because they travel to many places I have never been, but also because they travel to many places I HAVE been. Each time they are in a country or city that I have visited, I think about how I would know exactly where I was going, exactly how to get there, and exactly the right questions to ask. And whenever I go to a new country that I have seen on the Amazing Race I think about what sights I might like to visit based on what I saw in the show. Therein, for me, lies the beauty of the Amazing Race. It isn't about playing a game or winning a million dollars...but about how we, without even knowing it at the time, become connected to the world and its cultures through the medium of television. Which I guess is also a powerful argument for the ways television can be used as a tool for good.

Tonight's episode of the Amazing Race featured some fun bunny steeple chasing in Denmark, which delighted me to no end. I could not quit giggling. And it enforced the desire I had to visit Denmark this spring when I got back to the Netherlands. World travel is awesome!!
