Gratitude Month - Suffrage

Today I am grateful for the right to vote. Suffrage...the legal AND civil right to vote is something that is easy to take for granted in this country. But it wasn't that long ago that women, black people, people without property, etc. were denied that right. Not only do we have the right to vote in this country, but we are able to exercise that right without fear.

Franklin D. Roosevelt said..."Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting".

So having said all that, I am sad to report that I was not able to vote today. But only because there was no election in my district. I guess everyone is running un-opposed. But yay for voting!!
