Miss Pettigrew Lives for a DayBased in pre-World War II Great Britain this movie is based off of a novel written in 1938. It is a throw back to the light hearted fare of the 30’s and 40’s, so not a lot of depth, but still good fun. Amy Adams plays an American nightclub singer with 3 boyfriends. One she’s afraid of, one she is using, and one she is in love with. She leads a mess of a life until Miss Pettigrew comes to apply for a position as Nanny/Social Secretary. Miss Pettigrew played by Francis McDormand is a dowdy, down on her luck governess, but she has pluck (that seems like the kind of word someone would use in the 1930’s doesn’t it?). Within 24 hours both ladies manage to bring about total change to each others lives. This movie while not deep is full of charm. It is refreshingly superficial in that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It simply is what it is, delightful. I give this movie 3 stars.
So, when in Rome do as the Romans do, right? Well...tonight we ate like the Tennesseans do, which means I had a plate full of fried food. Fried Catfish, fried Okra, fried Hush Puppies (super, duper yummy by the way - I am in love with them), white beans (not sure why), coleslaw (the creamy kind not the vinegar kind - apparently there are two kinds), and fried corn on the cob. Yisseree I ate Fried.Corn.On.The.Cob. It was interesting.

Delaney got her Easter package today is now running around the house on a jelly bean high. Maybe I shouldn't let her eat so much candy in one sitting.
