I love my fresh from the forest tree.
Every year I think to myself, "that is the perfect tree".
And you know what?
Every year my tree IS the perfect tree.
Let me count the ways...
1. When I couldn't afford ornaments for my tree, what to my wondering eyes should appear but shiny red apples a dollar a box at Big Lots (sorry couldn't figure out how to make anything cute rhyme with Big Lots).
2. That is the same year that I lived down in the U.C. in the Plaza and where I forged one of my most important and cherished friendships.
3. It reminds me of one of the last scenes in the movie version of "How The Grinch Stole Christmas", when Cindy Lou Who receives what is either a very large strawberry or a strawberry shaped apple. Either way it is deelightful.
As obsessed as I can be with getting all my shopping done early, and as stressed as I am with work and Primary sharing times, and as fretful as I am over finances -
this season I am going to try...
to be peaceful
to be kind
to be joyful
to appreciate each moment
and to remember that...
"Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!"
